Multan Sultans beat Peshawar Zalmi by big margin in a PSL 8 match

Pakistan Super League (PSL) is underway right now. PSL season 8 is being played right now in 2023. PSL is Pakistan’s own cricket league and is very popular amongst Pakistani Cricket fans. It is in fact most popular national tournament of Pakistan of any sport. PSL 8 have just only started but it is already grabbing lots of interest and attention from the fans.

Today the match between the Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi played. It was the fifth match of tournament. There are six teams, each team will play all other teams twice before the playoffs. Top four teams from all six will qualify for the playoffs.

In today’s match, the fifth of PSL 8, Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and they elected to field first. The decision of fielding first didn’t go much in their favor, as while playing first Multan Sultans scored 210 runs. They given target of 211 runs to Peshawar Zalmi to win the match.

From the Multan Sultan’s batting side, Rilee Rossouw scored the most runs, which is 75 runs on just 36 ball with the help of 14 boundaries. Boundaries of Rilee Rossouw included 12 fours and 2 sixes. Muhammad Rizwan also played fantastic knock by scoring 66 runs on just 42 balls with the help of ten boundaries, which included 1 six as well.

Shan Masood was the first player who got out, he had scored just 20 runs. When the Multan Sultans’ innings got over David Miller was playing on 23 and Kieron Pollard on 15. This way, by just losing three wickets, Multan Sultans given target of 211 runs to Peshawar Zalmi.

From Peshawar Zalmi bowling side Salman Irshad taken two wickets by giving 38 runs in his 4 overs. Second wicket taker for Peshawar Zalmi was Sufiyan Muqeem. He took 1 wicket by giving 36 runs in his overs, which he bowled. Wahab Riaz, Khurram Shahzad and James Neesham also bowled four overs each, however, they have not been able to take any wicket.

From Peshawar Zalmi the captain Babar Azam, the one of two opening batsmen, departed very early after scoring just 9 runs. The other opener, Muhammad Haris, scored 40 runs. Saim Ayub scored 53 and Rovman Powell scored 23 runs. James Neesham scored 12 runs on 9 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six. Other than that everyone else kept getting out without getting into double figures.

When Peshawar Zalmi’s fourth wicket gone, they were 140/4. However, in just matter of 14 more runs, all the remaining 6 wickets of Peshawar Zalmi fallen, as Peshawar Zalmi all team got out on 154 runs in just 18.5 overs. This way Multan Sultans won the match by 56 runs.

From Multan Sultans bowling side, Ihsanullah and Usama Mir took 3 wickets each, Abbas Afridi took 2 wickets, Carlos Brathwaite took 1 wicket. One player, Muhammad Haris was run out by outstanding direct hit by Abbas Afridi from considerable distance.

From Multan Sultan’s batting side Rilee Rossouw was awarded the player of the match title and trophy for his amazing knock, which help him achieve 75 runs on just 38 balls with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes. He scored these runs on the strike rate of 208.33, which is amazing.

After winning this match, Multan Sultans have put themselves them on top of the tournament standings. However, they have played the most matches of all teams. They have played three matches and won two. Peshawar Zalmi is on fourth place on the PSL 8 points table right now. They have played two matches and won one of them.
