Pakistan Super League (PSL) is underway and today the second match of the day was played between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi. This was the Match 15 of PSL 8, the PSL for 2023. In the match Lahore Qalandars won the toss and elected to bat first.
While batting Lahore Qalandars had a very ordinary and slow start. They in fact lost one early wicket of Mirza Baig, he got out on just 5 runs after 7 balls. There was immense pressure on team after that so they very slowly started building the innings, however, later on they built it very well. After Mirza Baig, Fakhar Zaman and the Abdullah Shafique were playing. They started out slow but gone on to do the great match winning totals.
Fakhar Zaman scored 96 runs on just 45 balls with the help of 10 sixes and 3 fours. Abdullah Shafique also scored a big total of 75 runs on just 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 5 sixes. Sam Billings, also scored valuable 45 runs on just 23 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. Overall Lahore Qalandars given very impressive target of 242 runs to Peshawar Zalmi to win the match.
From Peshawar Zalmi bowling side Wahab Riaz took two wickets while Rovman Powell took one wicket. No one else was able to take any wickets.
While batting for Peshawar Zalmi Muhammad Haris lost his wicket very early on a duck while soon after the captain followed him with just 7 runs, which he scored. Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored 55 runs while Saim Ayub scored 51. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 24 runs while Rovman Powell scored 20 runs. Everyone else scored less than that. Overall team Peshawar Zalmi was able to do just 201 runs in 20 overs.
While bowling for Lahore Qalandars, Shaheen Shah Afridi took 5 wickets while Zaman khan took 2 wickets. Haris Rauf and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
This way Lahore Qalandars won the match by 40 runs. Fakhar Zaman was awarded the Player of the match title and trophy for his match winning 96 runs contribution which he scored on just 45 balls with the amazing strike rate of 213%.
