Islamabad United beats Peshawar Zalmi in the Match 12 of the PSL 8

Today the 12 match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 was played between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. In both batting and bowling, Islamabad United dominated Peshawar Zalmi. Today, Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first.

If we talk of Peshawar Zalmi batting performance, only the two openers were able to score big after that the batting just collapsed. Babar Azam scored 75 runs on 58 balls with the help of 7 fours and one six. He came as one of the openers but remained not out until the end of match while on the other end wickets kept falling. On the other end the other opener Muhammad Haris played well, he scored 40 runs on 22 ball. But once he departed, the wickets of Peshawar Zalmi started raining the for the Islamabad United.

After Babar Azam and Muhammad Haris, the highest score was of Dasun Shanaka, he scored just 11 runs. Other than that the seven other batters not even got able to enter the double figure score. On the end of Peshawar Zalmi innings they scored just 156 runs.

From Islamabad United bowling side, Hasan Ali took 3 wickets in his four overs which he bowled. Rumman Raees, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan and Mubasir Khan took one wicket each. Tom Curran also bowled full four overs, however, he was not able to take any wickets, while he gave 30 runs.

When Islamabad United started batting, they need 157 runs to win the match. From Islamabad United batters, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 62 runs on just 31 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 7 fours. Rassie Van Der Dussan scored 42 runs on 29 balls and Asif Ali scored 29 on 13. Colin Munro scored 9 while Shadab Khan only scored 3. Azam Khan was playing on 9 along with Asif Ali when Islamabad United won the match in style with six from Azam Khan’s bat.

From Peshawar Zalmi bowling, Arshad Iqbal, James Neesham and Usman Qadir took 1 wicket each. While Wahab Riaz and Sufiyan Muqeem were not able to take any wickets.

Overall on the start of Match, from Peshawar Zalmi Babar Azam and Muhammad Haris put up a great batting show. However, once the Muhammad Haris got out, Islamabad United took over. Afterwards, Islamabad United dominated both innings of match and won it with ease.

After winning this match Islamabad United moved to second position on points table while Peshawar Zalmi moved to the fourth. There are total six teams, the top four will go on to play the playoffs. For now, both Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United are in top four, however, lots more action still remains in the PSL 8, so anything can happen.
