Islamabad United beats Multan Sultans in PSL 8 Match 24

Things are heating up as Pakistan Super League moves on towards the playoffs stage. Today in match 24 of the PSL 8 tournament Islamabad United faced Multan Sultans. Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first.

Multan Sultans Innings

While batting first Multan Sultan scored 205 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. The top scorer was the opener Shan Masood, he scored 75 runs on 50 balls. He did it with the help of 12 boundaries. Second best score was from Tim David, he scored 60 runs on just 27 balls. This included 4 fours and 5 sixes. Muhammad Rizwan also contributed 30 on just 18 balls.

While bowling from Islamabad United side, Shadab Khan and Muhammad Wasim took two wickets each. While Faheem Ashraf took one. Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rumman Raees and Mubasir Khan were not able to take any wickets.

Islamabad United Innings

While islamabad United was playing, several times, it seem that they have lost this game and chase is getting out of hand. But they kept making the efforts. Specially, the 51 runs on just 26 balls from Faheem Ashraf proved very beneficial for the team. He scored these with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. While at the end he was playing on the other end, the wickets were quickly falling, however, he showed the strong nerves and took Islamabad United across the line.

Shadab Khan the captain also scored valuable 44 runs on 26 balls while Colin Munro also scored fast 40 runs on just 21 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 4 fours. Islamabad United were able to win the match by two wickets with one ball of their innings still remaining.

For Multan Sultans Anwar Ali took three wickets while Ihsanullah and Usama Mir took two wickets each. Abbas Afridi also took one wicket. Muhammad Ilyas gave away 54 runs in his 3.5 overs which he bowled and he didn’t took any wickets.

Match Summary

Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first. While batting first Multan Sultans scored 205 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Gave target of 206 to Islamabad United to win the match. Islamabad United chased the total with 1 ball remaining.

Islamabad United won the match by two wickets, thanks to 51 runs, not out, by Faheem Ashraf on just 26 balls, specially when wickets of tailenders were falling very quickly on the other end. Faheem Ashraf also won several titles with trophies and cash. He won moment of the match award for hitting in the last over of the game. Also two other awards, which are energetic batter of the match as well as the player of the match award.

With the victory today, the Islamabad United strengthened its position on points table, they stand at number two spot on the points table. In the playoff top two teams will have added advantage. So there most teams would want to be. However, out of six teams, top four teams will still move to playoff while the players of bottom two will head to their homes.
