China decides to assist Pakistan in launching first satellite

SatelliteThis was revealed by the Chinese ambassador that china will be assisting Pakistan in launching the Pakistan’s first communications satellite. A a meeting between President Zardari and Chinese president Hu Jintao is scheduled late this month. Meeting will held in US city of New York.

In this meeting they are expected to talk on bilateral issues as well as discussion will include this agreement. China wants to spend some money in launch of first Pakistani Communications Satellite. Chinese ambassador added that as the economy and security situation of country both are improving so its good time to take on these kind of projects.

Foreign investment is back in Karachi Stock Exchange

Rising 100 indexAs soon as government ensured the improvements in the energy sector, this have increased the confidence of foreign investors and Karachi stock exchange have observed good investment by foreigners. In last month, Aug 2009 the money foreign buyers bought shares of about $95.3 million and this month on alone 1st Sep, 2009 the investment of 21.29 million was observed from the foreign investors.

More over KSE-100 index was ended on its highest of the year at 8,878.64 today. This is big improvement and if the political parties and country’s leadership don’t come up with any other issue this confidence by foreign buyers will further strengthen and loads of foreign investment is expected. As this year KSE-100 index already gained 51.38% , let me remind you that it had lost about 58.3% in the last year.

Cabinet meeting approves more power plants for Pakistan

In Islamabad a federal cabinet meeting held, which approved 14 more power plants. This was done to cope with current energy crisis in Pakistan. Moreover, these will help government in fulfilling the promise to fully remove the load-shedding from Pakistan by the December 2009. These Plants will collectively provide the 1500 MW of electricity.

About 700 MW of shortfall will still be there in December 2009, which will be fulfilled via current infrastructure. These all approved power plants will be the rental power plants meant to cope with the current electricity shortage in country and step ahead to make the country permanently clean form power load shedding.

4500 MW additional electricity for Pakistan

Bhasha Dam LocationRecently Bhasha dam was approved by Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec), this dam is going to cost 894.25 billion rupees. Not only this, along with this project about two dozen other infrastructure and social sector schemes were approved. All of them collectively will cost about Rs. 977 billion. Foreign aid factor will about 312.94 billion rupees.

Bhasha dam will take about 10 years to complete and will serve the nation with 4500 MW of additional electricity.  First time after development it can be initially used about 30 years without any major maintenance. The committee termed it as a lifeline project for Pakistan. Also was termed as the biggest project of Pakistan history by the committee.

The dam will be about 272 meter high, will have the capacity of about 6.4 million accer feet of water. As a first step National Highway Authority will be given the tasks to widen the roads leading to that area to make the delivery of building equipment and material easy. As this dam will be fully made of concrete so will need to have lots of high tech and heavy building material at the location. It is indeed a upcoming mega structure from Pakistan.
