Huge Increase in Petroleum Prices Announced amid US-Iran War

Govt of Pakistan have announced new Petrol and High Speed Diesel prices, effective immediately from mid-night 7th Mar, 2026. These prices, according to govt sources, have been increased to contain the demand of Petrol and Diesel against the limited supply of both commodities during the US-Iran War.

Pakistan imports huge portion of its Petrol, Diesel and even the Natural Gas from the gulf states. Now as the movements of ships being restricted from the Strait of Hormuz passage way, Pakistan is likely to be highly affected by this, like many other nations of world.

While the Govt of Pakistan previously claimed that they have at least 28 days of supply of fuels, later on we also heard some contradictory statements from petroleum dealers association of Pakistan. Whatever is the reality, the truth is, with no end of war in sight as per current situation, we are going to seem some kind of shortage of petroleum prices, for sure.

Again to balance the demand of petroleum products against the available supply, govt of Pakistan have announced following new prices of petrol.

ProductNew Price (Rs.)Old Price (Rs.)Change (Rs.)
Motor Spirit (Petrol)321.17266.17+55
High Speed Diesel (HSD)335.86280.86+55

Before this price hike Govt of Pakistan used to review and change the petroleum prices every 15 days. Normally those prices took affect on 1st and 16th of each month. But this time due to extra ordinary situation in the middle east amid US-Iran war, the prices have been increased much earlier, effective from 7th of March, 2026.
