As the first stage of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is about to complete, Lahore Qalandars are the ones who are knocked out of tournament. In first stage one team had to say good bye to the tournament from total five teams. On points table Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators are now topping the chart by winning 6 matches each from 8 matches each, which they played. Quetta Gladiators is behind the Peshawar Zalmi on base of run rate. Than on third place is Islamabad United with 4 matches won and 4 matches lost. Finally on 4th and 5th places are Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars.
Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars both have won two matches each, however the Karachi Kings are ahead of Lahore Qalandars only on base of better run rate in PSL matches of current first season. This results in Lahore Qalandars being knocked out of the PSL Tournament.
Lahore Qalandars and their fans however must not get disappointed. They played somewhat good cricket and sometimes luck would not have been with them. They must now support other teams, the other teams of their own country. At the end real victory should be of PSL, Pakistan Cricket and Pakistan.
As it is established fact that the today’s PSL (Pakistan Super League) match was a thriller, it was gone very emotional. Firstly due to Lahore Qalandars were only left with couple of matches and they could have been out by losing out any of them. So fans were very emotional and concerned. On other side Quetta Gladiators had to maintain their winning streak and their struggle to stay on top of points table so they were emotional too. But still the emotions of Lahore fans bleeded today, as we will see in following pictures.
Both teams played very well today. there were lots of stakes involved for the players of both sides. So lots of emotions were seen on both sides. Finally, whatever the result of game was, the real result was the victory of Pakistan Cricket, victory of Pakistan Super League.
Quetta Gladiators today performed one of biggest chases of Twenty20 Cricket. Today while playing first the Lahore Qalandars were able to put up very big total of 201 on scoreboard while playing their 20 overs. But amazingly Quetta Gladiators played even better and were able to chase the total. Match was alive till the very end of the second innings. In fact Quetta Gladiators completed their chase on very last ball of match’s second innings.
While playing first Chris Gayle from Lahore Qalandars scored 6o on 34 balls with the help of 6 sixes and 3 fours. Azhar Ali scored 61 on 45 and Umar Akmal Scored 55 on just 25 balls Not Out. Dwayne Bravo did 20 on 19 Not Out. The total added up to 201, which was huge Challenge for Quetta Gladiators.
From Quetta Gladiators Zulfiqar Babar and Grant Elliot got on wicket each. Also Grant Elliot was the most economical bowler as he given relatively low 26 runs in his 4 overs. Most expensive bowler turned out to be Anwar Ali who given whooping 57 runs in his four over and was not able to take any wicket.
Unlike Lahore Qalandars the batting Quetta Gladiators comprised of several small individual totals instead of few big ones, however one fifty plus is worth mentioning. Its 55 runs scored by Bismillah Khan on 30 balls which included 10 fours and 1 six. Bismillah Khan played his first PSL Match today also he never played in National team, so he was another talent that Pakistanis today discovered. He was also name the “Man of the Match” today for his tremendous hitting. Kevin Peterson Scored 34, Kumara Sangakkara scored 37 and also Muhammad Nabi Scored 30 on 12 balls. Muhammad Nabi was the one who actually finished the match up, he was from tail endears. Everyone thought its game over for the Quetta Gladiators but 30 of Muhammad Nabi did the job. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. In fact a boundary on last ball of 2nd innings of match came from bat of Muhammad Nabi. It was absolutely required.
Lahore Qalandars bowlers did very good job but they were out of luck today, as they were not able to secure the victory. Ehsan Adil took 4 wickets by giving 39 runs in 4 overs, Dwayne Bravo secured 3 wickets by giving 30 runs in 4 over and another wicket taker was Kevon Cooper who took just one wicket by giving 37 runs in four overs. No other bowler from Lahore Qalandars side was lucky to secure a wicket.
Overall it was very good, high energy, thriller Pakistan Super League (PSL) match. Lahore Qalandars did very well but Quetta Gladiators took another well deserved victory. Thumbs up for both teams for top notch game play, winning or losing is just part of the game. Plus one for the Pakistan Super League, its going very good with such thriller matches.
Lahore Qalandars, a team which have been under the shadow of other teams, did well by batting first against Quetta Galdiators. With poor performance earlier they are bound to win their last two matches to progress in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament. They have been able to do well today, definitely due to that fear factor, fear of getting out of the tournament.
From Lahore Qalandars side Chris Gayle did 60 on 34 balls with the help of 3 fours and 6 sixes. Azhar Ali helped him with 61 on 45 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Umar Akmal was another batsman to make his 55 with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes and remained not out. Dwayne Bravo also remained not out and scored 20 on 17 balls. So it was very good show of batting from Lahore Qalandars.
From Lahore bowlers Grant Eliot and Zulfiqar Babar were able to take one wicket each. Overall all bowlers proved very less economical. Now Lahore Qalandars will have to show same kind of performance in batting side to win this current match.
While playing first the Lahore Qalandars gave the target of 166 runs to Islamabad United. From Lahore Qalandars side Muhammad Rizwan was the best scored 50 runs on 27 balls. Other than him, no one else was able to break the barrier of 20s. Bowling performance from Islamabad United side was mixed, however we can safely say the Muhammad Sami did better than others, as he took two wickets in three overs by giving 21 runs.
Islamabad United today played the solid batting innings, Shane Watson scored 79 runs on 47 ball with the help of four FOURS and seven SIXES. Sharjeel Khan also scored 79 runs but on 43 balls, also he remained NOT OUT. Sharjeel did this total using seven SIXES and five Fours. Andre Russel was able to score on 2 runs on 5 balls before he got out.
From Lahore Qalandars side Ehsan Adil was able to take two wickets but he gave too many runs, which is 41 on 3.5 overs. Best bowling economy rate from Lahore Qalandars bowling was of Dwayne Bravo, he game 28 runs in four overs, averaging 7 runs per over. But he was not able to grab a wicket for the Lahore Qalandars.
This was another good day for Islamabad United and Pakistan Super League. Qalandars also put up a good fight today, but it was just not their day today. Best of luck to both of these teams for coming PSL (Pakistan Super League) matches.
