Today while playing first the Lahore Qalandars were able to put up very big total of 201 on scoreboard while playing their 20 overs. But amazingly Quetta Gladiators played even better and were able to chase the total. Match was alive till the very end of the second innings. Unlike Lahore Qalandars the batting Quetta Gladiators comprised of several small individual totals instead of few big ones, however one fifty plus is worth mentioning. Its 55 runs scored by Bismillah Khan on 30 balls which included 10 fours and 1 six. Bismillah Khan played his first PSL Match today also he never played in National team, so he was another talent that Pakistanis today discovered. He was also name the “Man of the Match” today for his tremendous hitting. Kevin Peterson Scored 34, Kumara Sangakkara scored  37 and also Muhammad Nabi Scored 30 on 12 balls. Muhammad Nabi was the one who actually finished the match up, he was from tail endears. Everyone thought its game over for the Quetta Gladiators but 30 of Muhammad Nabi did the job. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. In fact a boundary on last ball of 2nd innings of match came from bat of Muhammad Nabi. It was absolutely required.

Lahore Qalandars give a target of 201 to Quetta Gladiators in a PSL T20 Match

Lahore Qalandars BattingLahore Qalandars, a team which have been under the shadow of other teams, did well by batting first against Quetta Galdiators. With poor performance earlier they are bound to win their last two matches to progress in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament. They have been able to do well today, definitely due to that fear factor, fear of getting out of the tournament.

From Lahore Qalandars side Chris Gayle did 60 on 34 balls with the help of 3 fours and 6 sixes. Azhar Ali helped him with 61 on 45 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Umar Akmal was another batsman to make his 55 with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes and remained not out. Dwayne Bravo also remained not out and scored 20 on 17 balls. So it was very good show of batting from Lahore Qalandars.

From Lahore bowlers Grant Eliot and Zulfiqar Babar were able to take one wicket each. Overall all bowlers proved very less economical. Now Lahore Qalandars will have to show same kind of performance in batting side to win this current match.

Players of Quetta Gladiators Celebrating Victory over Islamabad United By Taking SelfiesIn another PSL (Pakistan Super League) low scoring game Quetta Gladitors send back all 10 players of Islamabad back to the pavilion in just 19.1 overs, at a point when they had scored 117 runs only. By achieving the target in just 16.1 overs the Islamabad United added another victory to their unending list of victories in this first season of Pakistan Super League.

From Islamabad United batting side the best score was 40 which was scored by Shane Watson on just 28 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 3 fours. Other than him no one reached the figure of 20 and everyone was back to pavilion at at point.

Quetta Gladiators bowlers did very good job. Grant Elliot took three wickets in 4 overs by giving just 25 runs. Zulafqar Babar and Aizaz Cheema took two wickets each. Anwar Ali, Muhammad Nawaz and Muhammad Nabi took one wicket each. So there was no bowler on the Quetta Gladiators side today, who did not took a wicket. If was show of pure collective effort.

While chasing the target Sarfaraz Ahmed did best 51 runs on 39 balls with the help of six boundaries. Ahmed Shehzad supported him with 41 runs on 31 balls with the help of five FOURS and just on SIX. Muhammad Nawaz was 21 NOT OUT on 14 balls with Sarfaraz Still on the crease when the Quetta Gladiators won the match for good.

Andre Russel was only bowler from Islamabad United who took the wickets. He took three wickets in just three overs that he bowled. Also he given only 18 runs in those three overs, while the pitch was totally favoring the batsmen. Nothing more to say about the Islamabad United’s bowling performance, as they were not at able to contain the opposition.

Overall, today Islamabad United’s shaky performance was no match for the solid authoritative show from the Quetta Gladiators. So the Gladiators took the rightfully deserved victory.

Lahore Qalandars take their first victory of PSL, it is huge and was against Quetta Gladiators

Umar Akmal of Lahore Qalandars waving cricket bat after nice innings against Quetta GladiatorsLahore Qalandars was the team which was losing each and every match of current first season of PSL (Pakistan Super League). On other hand the Quetta Gladiators were winning each game of the tournament yet. They even won from all teams which defeated Lahore Qalandars previously in this current season. Plus victory was not only shocking, it was huge. Lahore Qalandars set a target of 195 and Quetta Gladiators were not able to achieve it. The Gladiators got out in just 16.2 overs by scoring just 131 runs.

Main ingredients of this victory were the innings of Umar Akmal and than Cameron Delport. Cameron Delport was one of the openers with Azhar Ali on other end. While Azhar Ali got out by scoring just 20 runs on 21 balls, Cameron Delport stood strong and scored supporting innings of 73 runs on 55 balls. However, on other side of wicket while coming in at number three Umar Akmal unleashed his all batting skill today. He player beautiful super fast innings of 93 runs on just 40 balls with the help of six FOURs and eight SIXES. Umar Akmal played with the exceptional strike rate of 232.5, which is simply awesome to watch.

For the bowlers of Quetta Gladiators there was nothing much in the game. Three of them who are Anwar Ali, Zulfiqar Babar and Umar Gul manage to take one wicket each. Most expensive bowler was Umar Gul who gave 50 runs in four overs he bowled, with the average of 12.5 runs per over.

Coming to the batting of Quetta Gladiators, it was total disaster today. Best scorer was Muhammad Nawaz who did 42 on 32 balls, than trailing him was Sarfaraz the captain, who did just 31 runs and those on 19 balls. All team was out in just 16.2 over with seven players scoring under 10 and two of others scoring under 20 runs.

Like their batting the bowling of Lahore Qalandars was also superb. Zafar Gohar took four wickets, Ajantha Mendis was able to take three, with three other bowlers taking one wicket each. Best stats were of Zafar Gohar who in 3.2 over given just 14 runs and took four wickets. Worst were of Hamad Azam, who gave 25 runs and took no wicket at all in four overs, but still this is still acceptable in game of Twenty20 and specially when opposition is chasing total of 195.

This was again a good cricketing day, specially very good for PSL. An upset which was lesson for Quetta Gladiators and other teams, that winning few games do not mean, you will be the winner through out. Plus it was very nice the way Lahore Qalandars took themselves up and together after losing few previous games. This match also proved that no one should think of couple of teams as favorites, any team can take the trophy with some hard work.
