Update on Earthquake in Hindu Kush mountain range

Earthquake Pakistan Oct 2009Finally the correct earthquake magnitude of earthquake recoded by the Pakistan Metereological department was 6.4 instead of 6.7 reported earlier. 6.7 was the official figure reported by some news agencies but was then corrected as 6.4 on rector scale after announcement from the Pakistan meteorological department.

The epicenter was 180 to 196 KM deep under the Hindu Kush mountain range.  According to the experts more after shocks are expected inside 24 hours time of initial earthquake. Earthquake was equally observed in many areas of Afghanistan as well as most of the area of Pakistan.

No deaths or the property damage was reported but in October 2005 one such earthquake of magnitude 7.6 had killed 74000 people and 3.5 million had to move in to shelters provided by government etc
