Like yesterday, today as well people hit the roads of Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Peshawar. Protests are against the government which committed the act of unnecessarily increasing the CNG prices as well as the off days of CNG filling stations were constantly being increased.
Transporters were also on strike and were on roads due to the fact that they were being denied the relaxation which was given to public transport within the off days of CNG. It was that CNG filling will be allowed few hours daily to serve the needs of public transport only.
As the relaxation of filling hours gone away from the public transporters, they gone on strike and hit the roads, so do the people who couldn’t reach their offices and educational institutions due to the unavailability of public transport. The biggest gathering was at Faizabad Rawalpindi. Protestors in Islamabad and Rawalpindi were shelled with tear gas shells, also were beaten with sticks by police. Also on some places like Faizabad Rawalpindi protestors were hit with rubber bullets.
In Peshawar 15o0 Rickshaw drivers protested against the availability of CNG and increased prices of fuel. Police again used sticks to scatter the protesters.

Today in Pakistan the transporters were mostly on strike against the recent Rs. 13 per KG increase in CNG price. As well as the CNG filling stations observed the strike all over country. People who in the morning came out of their homes to go to offices, after not finding any public transport ended up gathering in form of protests. They blocked roads and registered their protests against recent CNG price increase by government.
In capital Islamabad and its twin city Rawalpindi alone on many many places people registered the protests, the traffic of twin cities was total mess and more than 60% of even those people who own private conveyance were not able to reach work. Availability of fuel was also the issue as from Thursday to Friday in this region the gas (CNG) filling stations normally stay closed and this time these price hikes this time made things worse as people stood against it.
Many believe that corruption of parties in power is increasing the problems of people on epic proportions. Fuel prices are already touching skies and are unaffordable for many already. Recently not only CNG but also the prices of other petroleum products like Gasoline (petrol) and High Octane Diesel were increased.
As prices of everything are dependent and affected by fuel prices, current price increases will make things worse and inflation rates which already are touching skies are believed to further go up into the first earth now.
These price hikes and unavailability of fuel was an eye-opener for people of Pakistan who were thinking optimistically about their fate in 2012 which just started. People also now does not have any expectations from ruling party and their allies. But they wanted to hope that their problems are at least not increase any more but this seems impossible for now.
May Allah Bless Pakistan/people of Pakistan.

April 2011 a strike was called by the president of CNG association and came into affect from 13th of April 2011. The reason for CNG stations to go on strike was insufficient supply of gas from SUI Northern Gas Company Limited. This insufficient supply of gas from SUI Northern Gas Company is shocking because we are into the season where gas consumption is lowest of the years. As most of house hold consumption like Room and Water heaters go down in this season, so that provides considerable decrease in daily gas usage.
The winter season is long gone but Sui Northern Gas is still observing some lame Gas Load management plan or Gas Load shedding in other words. Load shedding is mostly being observed in Punjab and its two days a week. Gas load Management plan is not only a big dent on CNG stations’ businesses but a headache for consumers due to the prices of alternate fuel being very high relatively. Plus also gas is not available for two days and two to three days of remaining five days consumers have to face long queues when they are all on the road to refuel their vehicles for usage in off days of CNG availability.
In the summer season when temperatures are already touching and exceeding the 40 degrees Cecilius, this is strange that Sui Northern Gas company is facing gas short fall. It is not only the case in Punjab, this company is struggling in other regions too, like in Sindh same company is not providing sufficient gas to KESC triggering the electricity load shedding of up to 14 hours.
Current political party in government should know its role and should do what ever they can to resolve these daily life necessity issues but sorry to say our leaders still are just sleeping and are indifferent about the problems of people of Pakistan.
Update: In day time very few CNG Stations remained open, they had the long queues but were giving gas of limited volume e.g. just 100 Rs or so. However in night little more number of CNG stations were open for business, but still there were unbearably long queues at those CNG stations.
