KESC goes online against theft of electricity

Karachi electricity supply company which is responsible for providing the electricity to Karachi have finally decided to deal with the electricity theft in the city. As part of this campaign they have made use online medium along with the use of conventional media like TV and newspaper ads.
Most recently they have been seen making use of a social network called Facebook using their proper advertisement feature. They have maintained a Facebook as well to connect with people effectively. Also they are maintaining a YouTube channel as well.
It is actually a positive step that along with normal online advertisements now Pakistani Organizations are now using the social networks to promote themselves and to connect with people. They way they will be better able to get the consumer feedback directly and will be better able to know what the consumers think about them.
The current campaign being promoted using all kind of media including online mediums is called “They Steal, We Pay” or “Wo Karein, Hum Bharain” in Urdu. This is against those culprits who steal the electricity and consequently other consumers end up paying for them to fulfill the electricity costs. This campaign from this Electric Supply Company shows that they are finally now up to deal the issues in order to improve their distribution network.
The current campaign is not only limited to the promotion, in fact they are tracking out the individuals who are committing this crime, registering the FIRs against them and also publishing their names as well as addresses in newspapers in their ads.

Youtube first fully and now partially banned in Pakistan, Ban imposed by Govt of Pakistan

On Sunday youtube was again total down for users all over Pakistan. PTCL blocked it for all other ISPs country wide. Also other ISPs having their own Internet wireless or wired links with other countries were instructed to ban the site. The full website ban lasted about 40 minutes to an hour.
Later website was back except for few videos. Ban was imposed to restrict the Asif Ali Zardari’s shut up videos. President Zardari was addressing people in a public address, few people who were apparently distracting and trying to get President Zardari’s attention, Zardari gone angry on them and told them openly to shut up during his speech.
Now people cut up this portion of speech – including the portion in which the president of country telling the public to shut up – and uploaded these videos to youtube.
After a while when these videos spread like fire and people were sharing these to their friends and relatives, mr. Zardari probably got embarrassed by this and ISPs were told to block this video.
Rightly so, as being president of the country how could you tell your public to shut up and in a public speech. What message you are sending other countries. This thing more fired up when these videos were blocked country wide. But their are not many things that Zardari administration can do about this, because the videos are still available worldwide and even in Pakistan people can see them using other means like proxy websites.
However if you try to access those specific videos directly using youtube address a page appears with text “This Site is Restricted” centered on the screen.

Roads and bridges network at faizabad Islamabad

Above is the satellite view of the bridges and roads in Faizabad area of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. It actually manages huge traffic in great manner. I think its the only one of its kind in Pakistan or at least in Rawalpindi Islamabad.
The point is that on more areas such plans must be thought of and executed. We all know many places which are always congested with loads of traffic and passing those places is a misery. So such plans may thought for those places as well. Traffic on roads will no keep increasing so thinking in advance is a better strategy.

US dollar price hits all time high in Pakistan

Open market buying price of US dollar hit all time high of over 85 Rupees per unit. US Dollar is constantly declining in the international price but its price is Pakistan continued to rise. Also in the inter bank it was being sold at all time high of 84.92 Rs per unit.
Dollar have actually risen up about 25 Rs in just in period of last two years by coming to price of 85 from just Rupees 60. It must also be kept in mind that before this US dollar price had taken about years to rise just Rupees 20 in the period of over 10 years when the USD price was on the way to 60 Rupees per unit from 40 Rupees per unit. Fact is that in International market still US dollar is declining but Pakistani Rupee is declining at more pace. We can blame the current security situation and the failed policies of current administration for this downfall.
New year 2010 as a new dawn, welcome to new era

We hope that this new year 2010 will prove to be a new dawn with opportunities for Pakistan. We will get rid of all the problems that currently our country is facing. Hope their will be peace in the country and hope we will be back to the development and will get our status back in aspects of life as a nation.
With all the hope their are things our country requires from us, all it takes is the where ever you are, if you are a lost soul, get back to honesty voluntarily as soon as possible. This applies to people of Pakistan and Administration/Leadership of the country.
For all those souls who are causing trouble to destabilize the nation must also realize that it is the time to change otherwise we will force them to change. This applies to all who are in race to destabilize the law N order by their coward attacks on general public as well as men in uniform.
Lets see this as an opportunity to rise on map on the world once again and do our part to serve the humanity. God Bless Pakistan.
