How to report a stolen cell phone in Pakistan

If you had a phone that is stolen by someone or its lost and you want to report it so it gets blocked on all GSM Networks in Pakistan, use the following method.

Step 1. Get the Information together

Following are number of things you will need to get your phone blocked.

1. IMEI Number

IMEI Number is a unique number that is assigned to each cell phone, it uniquely identify a single phone as for each manufactured phone ever its different. You will get this number on packing of you phone. For each new phone you purchase you can check its IMEI by using *#06#. It is recommended to use this method for your phone, get the IMEI and save it with you so if your phone gets lost, you can use it to report and get your phone blocked. Or otherwise as I said the packing box of phone will have this number on it.

2.  Cell Phone Number – It is just the number which people use to call you, this number must have been used with that mobile, also make sure your SIM is registered on your name.

3. Name

4. National ID Card Number (NIC)

5. Address and Contact Number

Step 2. Report about the Phone

After you have got all above information together now you have to report about your stolen or lost cell phone. You have following choices for this,

- Call Police at 15

- Call PTA (Pakistan Telecom Authority) at their toll Free Number 0800 – 25625

- Call CPLC (Citizen Police Liaison Committee) on 021-5682222 or FAX them at 021-5683336

- Complain at imei@pta.gov.pk

Use any of these choices above to complain and you will be guided further if you need to do anything else. After the process is completed the phone will be blocked so that the thief can’t use or sell it. In the process if by any means you get back your cell phone, it can be unblocked easily by providing the same information.

Over the past increasing number of phone snatching and stealing cases have been reported, if in case some way your phone gets snatched or stolen, do report this using the process explained above so that the thief can’t get much out of this theft.

Happy Pakistan Day, Lets follow the dream

Pakistan Day, Minar-e-Pakistan

Happy Pakistan Day

23rd March is celebrated as Pakistan Day every year here in Pakistan mainly because of the Pakistan resolution we passed back in 1940 on same date. This was the start of Pakistan Movement consisted of struggle for a new separate country for Muslims of Indian subcontinent  where they can live independently and peacefully without  any influence form Hindus and British who never treated us equal back in those days.

Now we are living what our ancestors dreamed about 70 years back, at least we have our independence today and can do anything without any foreign influence if we want to.

Congratulating you on all on this independence I would like to add that we have not fully achieved what was dreamed in 1940′s resolution, we still have get rid of remained foreign influences on our soil, have to get rid of bad security situation, we have revive our economy, lots to be done in education sector in terms of increasing literacy rate and quality of education, health sector needs much of advancement, we have to be united on national level by forgetting any stuff which is planted here to divide us and above all we have to choose the right people to lead our country. The last sentence is the key to everything I have said above, because as soon as we will get able to choose the right, loyal and honest people to lead our country, much of other worries will go away automatically.

When we will have achieved of what I have mentioned above, still we will have to follow the dream, follow the dream to make this nation the greatest nation of the world. I assure this is not just a dream we have got potential, we have people who are working hard with honestly in whatever they do, also believe me they are in majority, what all we have to do is to get rid of internal corruption we are facing in this country.

The way around I have figured out around this is changing the top level leadership of country to honest, loyal, capable and trustworthy people, when we will have top level corruption gone, the pressures and strategies from top level will make corruption go away from all lower levels.

Secondly if we as individuals are not corrupt, this is not enough to get away, we will have to incorporate the zero tolerance for corruption in ourselves. That will demand us to go around everything in right manner without using any money or personal contacts, pointing out and exploiting the people who make people do those two things to their things done.

There is lots more which can be added to this topic but the point is we all have to be loyal and honest to our country and people, and as I said earlier worries will go away automatically. Lets consider this Pakistan Day as starting point to change everything we have towards everything we must have. It is the time to do the right thing or otherwise we may not be there to correct the things.

I would love to have your thoughts below as comments on this post, so consider adding them before you think of get away.

Shortage of more than 4000 megawatts in Pakistan, Electricity loadshedding hits hard this time

It is just start of spring season and we are already short of electricity in big way, already we are lacking 4o0o plus magewatts of power in Pakistan. What is going to happen in summer season, it will of course be the worst load shedding of all times in Pakistan. One would be optimistic while thinking of what is going to happen in near future but in this case the last two years proved this that things are getting worse and worse day by day.

This is definitely the worst failure of all the policies of current government, despite many promises in recent past about electricity they have not been able to cope with this issue and last promise was to remove the electricity load shedding from country for ever but just after three months of deadline we are seeing the 12 to 15 hours load-shedding in cities and load shedding of up to 18 hours or more in rural areas.

This all proves that the government have done nothing on earth to back the promises but just the promises which were never fulfilled. Not having electricity at homes will be least of our worries because there are alternatives available to cope with this but what about the falling economy which didn’t saw a hike mainly from last two years.

It is not electricity, it is a total policy failure which led the country towards the worst which can happen, if things are not improved soon we will be great trouble.

Specially in power sector there is lots which needs to be done, including building new dams to store the lots of water which we dump every year into the open sea despite the water shortage. There is lots which can be done in power sector including getting power from alternative sources but if it is not done on urgent bases in few years we will be pushed towards the total darkness in few coming years.

If we really want to progress, the energy from alternate sources like wind tribunes, solar energy plants is must, also the reserves of coal can be utilized to generate lots of power. But for all of that the real capable leadership is must. Lets see how current government deals with current energy and water crisis, but a question remains, are the really capable to deal with such situations? – We will get the answer to this question soon as time passes.

Register compaint against a cell phone or landline number in Pakistan

This topic covers how to and where to register your complaint if someone is threatening or annoying you with unnecessary phone calls or text messages from a cell phone or landline number in Pakistan. Unfortunately despite the many campaigns by PTA still there are cell phone connections/SIMs out there which are not registered to any one at all and being used or registered to wrong people other than real users. So before registering one such complaint a thought about the culprit using unregistered or incorrectly registered SIM may stop you from registering the complaint, but this not the way how things work now.

Now even if someone is annoying you from an unregistered or incorrectly registered SIM card, you can still register the complaint against the culprit and PTA will block the connection. If still the messages and calls continue from another number a proper action will be take against the person and even if he/she is using an unregistered or incorrectly registered SIM he/she will be tracked out, reached and coped easily, all you have to do is complain with PTA on first place.

You can call at PTA’s complaint number 0800-55055 to complain against the landline or mobile number from which someone is threatening you. You can also send an email to PTA’s contact email complaint@pta.gov.pk for registering your complaint but using their toll free complaint number mentioned above is recommended for a fast response but you can still expect the email method work out for you, as it worked out for me in past.
